Sometimes, stampsets will make you dream of spring. Add in a fantastic name like Helping Me Grow, and you’ll be dreaming of spring in no time! (And I’m sure it has nothing to do with the winter weather!).
This card is from Siara Acdal in Honoka’a, Hawaii (wishing I was there right now!!). I love that this card has just one colour, Wisteria Wonder, paired with the white. If you have ever wondered how to get the image bright white on coloured cardstock, the answer is White Embossing Powder. There is a difference in the quality of embossing powders, and Stampin’ Up!’s is exceptionally good! To heat emboss, you need embossing powder, versamark (or ink that stays wet for a few minutes), and a heat tool. Stamp the image using versamark, sprinkle on embossing powder (and shake off extra), and use the heat tool to heat the image until it “plasticizes”. It’s one of my favourite techniques! If you are looking for a colour to start with, white or clear are a good start!

One of the things that I love about Stampin’ Up! is all the stamps (obvious I know), but where they are really awesome is in their sayings and phrases. And I think they outdid themselves in this years Occasions Catalog. I love that we have a stamp that says “You are Totally Awesome” because sometimes, that’s exactly what you need! And paired with these flowers–amazing!
This card is by Lisa Bauer from Freeland, MI. I love the gem centres! And the dotted stems on these flowers from the Grateful Bunch stampset! And these images standout using simple colouring. I apologize for the bad photo–I’m not sure why it’s slightly blurry!

I have loved the tropical feel of the Botanical Blooms set since I first saw it in the catalog and at OnStage! At first, I tried to talk myself out of it, only because I have other flowers, but it’s breezy, beautiful tropical feel kept calling my name! And one of the best things about flowers–they’re versatile! These are dies that are gorgeous on their own, or paired with the stamped images.
This card was created by Bonnie Waterman from Boscobel, WI. I love that she used the washi tape that matches this set! Besides the gorgeous flowers, one of my favourite things in the dies, is that edge!
This card was created by Carol Hickman. I love how the lighter colour palette gives the card a completely different feel. And I must remember to use ribbon as a background banner like this, in person, it adds so much texture, especially this jute ribbon!

One of my favourite trends right now is watercolouring! It can take a simple stamped image and add a lot of depth very quickly. Today I have another swap card that uses this trend with the Rose Wonder Photopolymer stampset.
This card is from Terri Meehan. Most of what you see on pinterest uses the matching die, but I love how Terri used the stamp. And after she watercoloured it, she added Wink of Stella over the top (hard to see in the photo, but the flower and leaves have a slight slimmer to them), making it really pop.

One of my favourite sayings in the new stampsets is “Know What I Love? You.” from the What I Love stampset. The best part? This is one of the FREE stampsets you can earn during Sale-a-Bration by simply placing a $60 order!
How gorgeous is this card created by Donna Schneidtmiller of Louisville, KY? I have to admit, red is not a colour I reach for often, but this card has convinced me I need to start! I also need to learn to tie bows this perfect!

One of the first stampsets that I “had” to have in the new Occasions catalog was Picture Perfect. I LOVE hummingbirds. I used to see them every year at the feeder at my family’s cottage when I was little. They were so tiny, moved incredibly fast, and were the most colourful bird we would see in the summer!
Starfish are another obsession of mine. Although not at the cottage, they scream beach vacation to me!
This is another swap card I received, this gorgeous gem is from Jenelle Ruf of Williamstown, MI. Isn’t the Tip Top Taupe mixed with the warm yellow hues gorgeous?

Birthdays are definitely on my mind these days, particularly with the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign! One of my favourite stampsets in the Occasions Catalog is the Number of Years Stampset!
It’s the extra large numbers and dies that attract me to the set, but I love that this card by Monika Davis uses the flowers & words in the set on their own! This was another swap card from my training group, and I love how pretty and feminine it is!
Hope you have enjoyed all the birthday cards this week!
